TV adaptation of the Ken Follett novel following the fortunes of an English town in the 1300s. As King Edward III (Blake Ritson) prepares to lead England into a ruinous war with France that will last for a century, the residents of Kingsbridge have a different vision of the future. Led by the inspirational Caris (Charlotte Riley) and her lover Merthin (Tom Weston-Jones), they attempt to resist the power of the Catholic Church and the English Crown and forge their own destiny.
