Robin Bextor directs this documentary exploring 'Wicked', which tells the story of Elphaba, the girl who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West. Bextor considers its roots in L. Frank Baum's series of Oz books and chronicles the history of Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel 'Wicked' and the subsequent stage musical of the same name. Interviews with Maguire and Stephen Schwartz, who wrote the music and lyrics for the musical, feature alongside interviews with other historians, critics and writers.
