Mad Dog (Robert De Niro) is a mild-mannered forensic policeman who finally pulls his gun and intervenes during a hold-up, saving the life of local hoodlum and stand-up comic Frank Milo (Bill Murray). In gratitude Milo loans his protector a beautiful waitress by the name of Glory (Uma Thurman) for one week. Inevitably, Mad Dog falls for Glory and tries to make the arrangement more permanent.
