Betsy Hopper (Molly Ringwald) and her fiancé just want a quiet, intimate wedding. But Betsy's father (Alan Alda) feels threatened by his future son-in-law's rich parents, so he plans an extravagant affair, only to find that he cannot afford to pay for it all. So he then enlists the help of his brother-in-law, Oscar (Joe Pesci), with his Mob connections, to sort out the problem.
