Jannis Niewöhner and Sabin Tambrea star in this German drama based on Hermann Hesse's novel. After he is sent to study at the Mariabronn monastery, Goldmund (Niewöhner) develops a bond with fellow student Narcissus (Tambrea). However, dissatisfied with life in the monastery, Goldmund leaves in pursuit of adventure while his friend remains to continue his training. Years later, when Goldmund is imprisoned, the two friends are reunited once again and reflect on their divergent paths.
